Accessing QBE’s ATE insurance

We have tailored access to our ATE policy to suit each firm.

Some firms prefer to apply for one-off policies.

Other firms favour having a delegated authority scheme.

Ultimately, we will work with each firm according to their preference.


One-off Proposals

No assessment fee is charged for submitting any one- off proposal.

One-off proposals can be submitted at any stage of a dispute.

ATE insurers tend to want to insure cases early in the life cycle of a dispute. Nonetheless, cases are insured that are close to trial or even go to the Court of Appeal.

We aim to provide a response within 10 working days.

Delegated Authority Schemes

This involves QBE appointing a law firm as its agent to:

• Risk assess a case on its behalf without needing to submit a one-off proposal form
• To issue and sign an ATE policy on QBE’s behalf
• To run a case to trial without needing to obtain QBE’s written consent to proceed with the case.
