The Belfry - Risk Management Seminar 2008
PYV Legal/Quinn Insurance Free Risk Management Seminar and Golf Day, 3rd & 4th July 2008 at The Belfry.
PYV Legal clients were able to come, enjoy and benefit from a whole host of activities at prestigious hotel and golf course, The Belfry at the beginning of July all for free. Designed for firms who are insured with Quinn-Insurance, who gratefully contributed towards both the cost and the running of the event, it can be deemed a roaring success.
The morning opened with a speech from Nick Pointon who outlined some of the market issues playing on most firms' minds currently, and continued on with a speech from Chantal Haynes of Lexcel. She addressed the importance to practices of managing people within a firm.
The morning concluded by an informative presentation by Fred Jacobs of the SRA who ran through some statistics and cleared up a few myths about the regulator. He then received a bit of a grilling from delegates who were keen to take this valuable opportunity to question their regulator. We then broke for lunch where delegates had the opportunity to speak with their PYV Account Manager, chat with a Quinn Underwriter or network amongst themselves.
The afternoon session opened up with a talk from Francis Dingwall from legal risk and was finished up by two short speeches from Quinn-Insurance, one about the history of the group and one about their various solicitors professional indemnity insurance claims experiences.
In the evening, following some drinks everyone sat down to a lovely meal prepared by the helpful Belfry staff. Business was put to one side as laughter echoed round the room while delegates enjoyed their evening. As well as a message from PYV Ltd Chairman Geoffrey Pointon who made a generous contribution to The Matt Hampson Trust Fund (the England U-21 rugby player who suffered a serious training injury and is now paralysed from the neck down), the night finished up with a hilarious after-dinner speech from former-England Rugby Captain Peter Wheeler. Unfortunately we are unable to publish the notes from his talk!!
The following day, the Golfers set off round the world-famous Brabazon Course. There were a number of competitions with prizes to be won, including a £30,000 car for a hole-in-one on the 12th. Unfortunately no-one was able to achieve such a feat although one of the delegates managed one on the tenth and won a weekend in Portugal for his troubles.
Overall, it was a fantastic couple of days, enjoyed by all compliments of PYV Legal and we hope everyone in attendance was able to gain from. If you weren't there, we've included the powerpoint presentations of the speeches for your benefit. We hope you find this and the photos useful and hopefully we will see you at our next event.
